Game 1 of 4 between Angels and the Yankees will kick off tonight at Yankee Stadium this will also mark the first game against the Angels with 9 remaining after tonight. Angels bring an 3 game win streak into this big series the 3 wins came on a sweep of the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Los Angeles will send 9 game winner Jon Garland on the mound to face Yankees Andy Pettitte. 24 hours since being traded to the Yankees Pudge Rodriguez will be in the lineup tonight.

Trade Deadline Coverage (UPDATED)

UPDATE 8:45- The Reds and the Chicago White Sox agree to trade Ken Griffey JR. to the White Sox in return for an player that will be determined. The trade is not yet offical as they are waiting for Griffey’s approval as soon as he aproves the trade we will update you more on this developing story UPDATE 11:30-Ken Griffey JR has indeed approved the trade to go to the contending Chicago White Sox for Nick Masset and Danny Richar

Update 9:45- ESPN’S Peter Gammons is reporting that the Seattle Mariners trade releiver Arthur Rhodes to the Florida Marlins for 22 yr old minor league prospect Gabby Hernandez this is certainly not a big trade but Fish will get some pen help from this deal.

Espn’s Buster Onley reports that Yankees have acquired veteran catcher Ivan Rodriguez for releiver Kyle Farnsworth. Yankees needed an catcher that could hit and Tigers needed an boost to theiir pen. This trade will likley work out for both teams. All in ALL good trade for the Yanks and decent addition of Farnsworth to the Tigers

Yanks pound O’s 13-3 to avoid sweep

With the Orioles going for the  sweep of the Yankees at Yankee Stadium the Yankees bats woke up in todays 13-3 pounding of the Baltimore Orioles. Joba Chamberlain settled in after a rough first inning.  Chamberlain picked up his 3rd win of the season and 2nd in consective starts.

Orioles scored first for the 3rd straight game when smoking hot Aubrey Huff blooped an single into left field  to score Brian Roberts to give Sarfate a 1-0 lead.  Brian Roberts led off the game with an grounder that Cano booted for an error that alouds Roberts to reach.  Adam Jones who been a pain to the Yanksin the first 2 games struckout to be Chamberlain’s first strikeout victim. Nick Marakakis grounded out for the second out of the inning.  Aubrey Huff blopped an 2-1 fastball to left to score Roberts for the first run of the game. Chamberlain would then retire Melvin Mora on an bunt attempt 1-3 that include an nice scoop by Giambi.

Orioles starter Dennis Sarfate was encouraged out to an early 1-0 lead as he took the mound for the 1st time of the day. He struckout Johnny Damon with an 95 MPH high fastball for the 1st out of the inning. Derek Jeter drawed an 4 pitch walk to be the first Yankee base-runner. Bobby Abreu followed with an 4 pitch walk of his own to put Yankees in a good scoring posistion. Alex Rodriguez took strike one then struck with an run scoring single to right that Marakakis came up throwing and over threw catcher Quirzos that allowed Abreu to score the go ahead run and Rodriguez mvoed into 3rd with only 1 away. With Robinson Cano up Sarfate threw ab wild pitch that scored Rodriguez to give Yankees an 3-1 lead after 1.

In the 2ND Joba Chamberlain settled down to retired the O’s in order including striking out Yankee killer Kevin Millar on an sldier. Meanwhile Dennis Sarfate also settled in when he got Xavier Nady to pop  out then getting Melky Cabrera to pop out and Molina struckout.

Orioles down 3-1 in the 3rd chipped Joba Chamberlain again in the 3rd. Brandon Fahey led off again the hard thorwing phenom with an base hit to right field. Then Brian Roberts struck an liner off of Cano’s glove and into right to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs. Rookie Adam Jones swung on and missed for the 1st out of the frame. Nick Marakakis singled sofly to left that scored Fahey to cut deficit to 1 run as the Yanks led 3-2. Chamberlain would go on and retire Huff and Melvin Mora to end the top half of the inning.

Dennis Sarfate still trailed 3-2 heading into his 3rd inning of work but the close lead turned into an Yankee 3 run lead when Yankees pushed 2 runs on an Bobby Abreu homer his 1st of 2 on the day. Johnny Damon walked to begin the Yankees threat. Sarfate came back to strikeout Jeter who went 0-3 before being took out that ended his hit streak. On an 2-1 pitch Damon was attempting to steal when Bobby Abreu slamemd an 2 run homer off the screan of the foulpole. for an 5-2 lead thru 3.

Dennis Sarfate would retire Robinson Cano, Xavier Nady and Melky Cabrera in order on only 10 pitches but was tooken out of the game after going 4 innings of work while he only gave up 2 hits he walked 3 that all came around to score for an Yankee run. he would be replaced by Brian Burres who also didnt fare so well.

With Joba Chamberlain effective the Orioles would get no more off of the Yankees yonug starter when he retired Brandon Fahey the shortstop on strikes for the first out.  Joba lso struckout Brian Roberts on an 0-2 fastball that was caleld for strike 3. Then he would go on and get Jones on an grounder to Jeter for an relativy east inning.

After an easy 1-2-3 inning Brian Burres ran into lots of trouble in the 6TH when the Yankees  put up an 4 spot in the inning. Bobby Abreu led off the inning with an double to right fielder Nick Marakakis to be in scoring posistion. Alex Rodrgieuz faield to drive him in when he lined out to Luke Scott for the 1st out. Jason Giambi hit an check swing that beat the shift for an RBI single to give Yankees 6-2 lead. Robinson Cano drove an 0-1 pitch to right tfor an single that moves Giambi over to third from first.  Xavier Nady picked up his second career RBI with Yankees when he driven an double into the seats that scored GIAMBI AND MOVED Cano to 3rd and the X MAN into second. as that would give Burres the boot from the game. Fernando Cabrera intentionally walked the Melk-man to give Jsoe Molina a chance to crack the game open the bags full but he struckout.  Johnny Damon added an RBI to his total when he drawed an abses loaded walk to give Yankees 7-2 advantage they would go on add another when Nady came home to score on wild pitch.

Chamberlain was replaced by reliever Edwar Ramirez who threw behind Kevin Millar on the first pitch of his outtnig and was quickly ejected and was replaced by rookie Dave Robertson. Robinson pitched 2 solid innings as he gave up 2 hits and 1 run and walked 1 while fanning 3 the only run he gave up was an solo blast by pinch hitter Juan Castro.

After an 4 run 6th for the Yanks they put up anotehr 4 runs in the 7th.  Bobby Abreu slammed an 1-1 hanging slider into the right field seats for his 2nd homer of the game. avery next batter Fernando Cabrera gives up another jack to Alex Rodriguez crushes his 23RD HR of the season as Yankees go up 11-2.  Richie Sexson who came in for defense replacemenggot an single that knocked Cabrera out of the ballgame as Trembley calls on Alberto Castillo. After retiring Robinson Cano first batter he faced Xavier Nady smacked another double into the gap that scores big Sexson for 12-2 lead. Yanks would add another for good measure when Justin Chirstian knocked Nady in for the 13h run on an singled.

Dan Giese comes into the 9th and shuts down the O’s in order as the Yankees avoid the 3 game sweep of the hands of the Orioles as a big showdown  begins tomorrow night between the ngels and the Yankees. Good showing by the Yanks as they crushed the Baltimore Orioles 13-3.

Rays won their finale game against the Jays today 3-2 as the elad over the Yankees i back at 4 games and the yankees next opponent the Angels try for the sweep tonight in Boston

Orioles has won 3 straight while the Yankees have lost 3 straight and are really struggling as of late. After Daniel Cabrera was ejected from beaning Rodriguez the Yankees woke up in the final 2 innings but not enough as the Yanks dropped game to O’s 7-6.  Today can Joba Chamberlain be the stopper for the Yankees losing streak. He will oppose Dennis Sarfate who will make his 1st ever MLB start.
