Slumping Melk man demoted| Sexson released

August 15, 2008

Breaking news: Melky Cabrera has been slumping since May has been demoted as Brett Gardner will make his second stint with the Yanks this season. Melky was hitting a poor 242 BA hitting 8 home runs ( 5 in April) with 36 rbis and   a low .296 on base percentage and only slugging a .377 average.

Yankees also made another move today when they released part time Richie Sexson who did not hit much when he was wearing pinstripes and on the Yankees. The only big thing he did was when he hit that grand slam in Texas to pull close down 2 but the Yanks lost anyway. Utily infielder Cody Ransom has been called up for his first ever stint with the pinstripes.

Times running out for Yankees

August 14, 2008

The Yankees were defeated yet again this afternoon against the Minnesota Twins despite a pretty good start from Darrell Rasner. Twinkies starter Kevin Slowey who was 0-2 with an ERA over 9 in 2 starts against the Yankees was very solid as the Yanks lost another game as time is really running down.

Yankees took an early lead when Alex Rodriguez was aboard on an double then scored on another 2 out hit that Jason Giambi smashed off the baggy. Darrell Rasner was surfing thru 3 shutting out the Twins until things that out of hand. Joe Mauer who was sick on Tuesday walked to begin the inning then Justin Morneau hit an groundball to A-rod that had a potential double play written on it Rodriguez threw to Cano who was off the bag and everyone was safe. Delmon Yonug who hit the 3 run homer on Tuesday to give Rivera his first blown save of the season hit another 3 run shot into dead center off the facing off the baggy tyo  give the Twins a 3-1 lead.

twins fourth and last run came on when Dan Giese who threw 84 pitches on Sunday came in relief today he surrendered a single to catcher Joe Mauer then walked Justin Morneau and Jason Kubel back to back as he left with a right shoulder issue. David Robertson got the first out then had Brian Buscher struckout but new plate umpire Camptos took over for Mike Winters who left the game  called it a ball he would go and give a sac fly to Buscher to secure a 4-1 Twins lead.

Yankees would get a run on Bobby Abreu strikeout that went away for Mauer into the backstop that scorde Pudge Rodriguez with the Yankees threatning for more Alex Rodriguez got under it and flied out to end the Yanks 7th.

Joe Nathan came on for third straight day and shut the Yankees down despite a four pitch to pee brain Robinson Cano as he got Pudge to fan on a check swing to end the horrible roadtrip with an 3-7 record that could have knocked us from the post season we will go home for the weekend against the Royals then go back on a roadtrip to Toronto and Baltimore. The Injury of Giese could result in Phil Hughes being caleld up for Tuesday’s game against the Jays.

Yankees beat the Twins in 12

August 13, 2008

A night where we saw everything from Mariano Rivera’s first blown save to Alex Rodriguez go ahead homer in the twelve inning last night. Nady also hit a homer in the twelve a 2 run bomb to put the game away as then Edwar Ramirez who has been struggling easily retired the Twins in order to end the ballgame.

Yankees had 3 leads in the game and Mussina and the pen blew then all they were up 1-0, 3-2 and 6-3 as the Twins tied the ball game at 6-6 on a Young 3 run homer down the right field foul pole but Jose Veras went 2 nice innings to hold the game for theYankees. They would go on to win on  go ahead Alex Rodriguez homer and a Xaiver Nady 2 rundinger to beat the twinkies. Full recap to come after the finale today.
